The MCS Dinghy Sailing Regatta organized by Academia de Vela del Club Náutico de San Juan delivered an unforgettable weekend of elite sailing competition, bringing together some of the Caribbean’s top sailors and internationally recognized athletes.
Racing took place across two spectacular venues — the protected waters inside San Juan Bay and the challenging Atlantic conditions off El Morro — creating an exciting mix of tactical and high-speed racing. With steady winds over 16 knots and gusts reaching up to 25 knots, competitors were pushed to perform at their highest level.
The regatta featured strong fleets in the C420, ILCA, Optimist, Sunfish, and Snipe classes, but the Snipe fleet stood out with an impressive lineup of sailors with Pan American Games and Central American & Caribbean Games experience.
🏆 Leading the fleet was the team of Ernesto Rodríguez / Marley Pérez (USA 31337), dominating the regatta with a net score of just 5 points in 6 races. Rodríguez is a two-time Pan American Games medalist in the Snipe Class, winning Gold in Lima 2019 and Bronze in Santiago 2023.

🥈 Finishing second was Puerto Rico’s husband-and-wife team of Ramón González-Bennazar / Virginia Carrero (PUR 30506). The duo earned bronze at the 2003 Central American & Caribbean Games in El Salvador and will once again represent Puerto Rico at the Santo Domingo 2026 CAC Games in the Snipe Class.

🥉 Third place went to Marco Teixidor / Gerry Fernández (PUR 1). Teixidor, also a CAC Games medalist in the Sunfish boat, recently captured victory at the 52nd St. Thomas International Regatta in the IC24 Class.

International participation continued with Guatemala’s Juan Canizalez / Nataly Dutoit (GUA 31610), currently training in Puerto Rico ahead of the Santo Domingo 2026 CAC Games. Puerto Rican sailors Agustin Lazaro / Julio Rojo rounded out the fleet with strong performances and valuable international experience.
